Woodland Printers & Native Art GalleryNijanani Novalinga The daughter of an Inuk father and a French mother, Nijanani grew up at Hudson Bay in the early 50's. For the first 7 years of her life she experienced a traditional Inuit lifestyle. Her first exposure to art came in the Residential School system and Nijanani quickly found it unsatisfactory to follow the teacher's art instructions. From the beginning, Nijanani had the desire to paint outside the lines. After exploring different media, she settled on watercolour, her absolute favourite. She loves the way the colours run and express themselves. Over the years Nijanani developed her own unique style, always incorporating her favourite colours and Arctic scenes. Her playful Arctic images can now be seen world-wide in fine galleries and private collections. Her work has graced the cover of a book, was included in a Fortune 500 portfolio, appeared on Christmas cards for various charities and can be seen in the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of Regina, Saskatchewan. The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto Ontario and the University of Toronto, Ontario. Also many large corporations and private collectors across Canada proudly display her colourful and cheerful paintings. Enjoy Our Site! For a larger view, please click on an image. |
